Midweek. A service for 20 & 30-somethings!

Posted by | No Tags | Resonate

Are you a 20-something or 30-something person trying to figure out where you fit in the bigger plan for God’s church? Specifically here at Green Acres Baptist Church? We feel ya!! It’s difficult sometimes to understand how to pick up the torch and run with it or how to contribute to something that has been so well-built over the years. As I look around our church, I see the massive potential for the future. We have a thriving young adult population that needs to be mobilized throughout our church! It’s tricky to figure out what that means or what it even looks like. It’s also tricky to figure out how to reach other young adults who are seemingly leaving churches nationwide left and right these days!

It’s time that we figure out how to contribute to what God is doing here in a new way. It’s time that we get our young adult families and friends under the same roof so to say and unify our efforts toward God and toward our church!

Jeremy Jones, our Minister to Young Adults, has been praying this through and working on a few different things. Fairly soon, he will be rolling out a young adults brand called “Nexgen” (you’ll hear lots more about that soon…). Part of the idea there is to give our Young Adults a central place they can go to find out what’s happening that is for them specifically. This blog is announcing the first of those events that we are going to try!

Jeremy and I and a few of our other staff members have decided to start a brand new service for 20 & 30-somethings called MIDWEEK! Midweek will happen on Wednesday Nights in the Chapel here at Green Acres from 6pm – 7pm. We are going to stick with the same calendar as WEBS to start out..so our first service will be Wednesday September 6!

The service will be a bit different from week to week and hopefully a bit different than Resonate on Sundays as well. We will focus on Community, worship, fellowship and study. Pastor David will be joining us most weeks to share some of his life, some Bible teaching and in general spend time with us in fellowship. It’s a great opportunity to get to know David a bit more than on the screen on Sunday mornings as well as a great opportunity for you to meet other people in your general age group!

We will have free childcare from 6 to 7 that you will be able to sign your kids up for…which is awesome!! They will get to participate in kid’s choir and have an overall awesome time while you get to fellowship with other people your age!

This service is targeted to reach 20-somethings and 30-somethings, single or married! We would never tell someone that you are not welcome though…so if you find yourself outside of that age range…you are more than welcomed to attend and interact with us! I think I can speak for all the younger folks in saying that we value relationship with those older than us GREATLY and strongly welcome it.

You’ll hear a lot more about this new service in the days to come…but for now, would you consider sharing this with those you know will be interested in this service?? I think God can use this in a mighty way to bless not only our generation, but to bless our church as a whole. It’s time that we learn how to unify and contribute to the direction that God is taking us. Green Acres Baptist Church exists because a bunch of 20-somethings and 30-somethings cared about what God was telling them…and they listened and took action! We have that opportunity as well. What an incredible church we have with incredible resources at our fingertips….the impact we can make on the city of Tyler is beyond our imagination. If we can harness the energy that we have as young adults and apply it to what God wants to do here…who knows what we can accomplish. Midweek is simply the beginning…our first step in what will hopefully be a long and fruitful journey. Would you consider joining us?? We sure love you guys and I personally am so looking forward to getting to know you more through this and getting to know God more as well side-by-side with you!

See you September 6 at 6pm in the Chapel!!!
